Line Rider first appeared in September 2006, a result of the efforts of Slovenian student Bostjan Cadez. The game was originally added to the Deviant Art website on September 23rd of that year. On December 20th, 2006, Line Rider was acquired by inXile Entertainment. The company purchased the console rights and redesigned the game for Nintendo DS, Wii and iPhone gaming platforms. It earned an award for Best Web Toy in 2006.
